So this is that "morning" thing everyone's been talking about

Yes, I am up at seven in the morning.

This is because it was hot and sticky last night, and I did not sleep. All night.

The weather will be just as hot, if not hotter, for the next several days.

I do not think I will be able to sleep if the weather continues to be like this.

I would like an air conditioner. I cannot, at this time, afford an air conditioner.

....

Swear to gods, people, I'm considering a hotel room tonight. My budget can suck it.

$99 AC At Lowes -- 5000 BTU/Hour.

This is only $1 more than the cheapest one I saw on the WalMart website, which wasn't available in stores. I'd seen that exact model linked above in two separate Lowes recently.

$99 AC at Home Despot -- 5000 BTU/Hour

Similar to the one at Lowes.

Any other big box store I looked up either had the AC's atleast $10 more, or didn't have them in-store.

5000 BTU is exactly the right size for cooling down a small-moderate sized bedroom. (though only that)

Also, don't forget the taxes and fees you will incur at a hotel. Hotel pricing is deceiving.

My preferred method for getting cool enough to sleep (as I dislike AC):

Shower immediately before retiring. Any temperature of shower will help; hot will make the air seems cool by comparison when you get out; lukewarm will also do that, and will drop your body temp a bit; and cool/cold will drop your temp dramatically.

Don't dry off - lay down wet and nude with a fan blowing on you.

Take an ice pack to bed (use a cloth barrier between it and your skin). Put it on pulse points if you're still hot.

Some other things I didn't need last night but might help you:

Ice water next to the bed
Covering yourself with a wet towel or sheet

I talked to a coworker last night who said she found an off-brand A/C unit for $80 at Big Lots. Thought I'd pass it along to you in case it helps.
