The Project That Will Not Die

*seethe*

Okay, y'all remember that nostalgia-bait 90's alternative mondo mix I laid to rest not too long ago? The one that ballooned from four discs to seven in the wake of slathering obsessive-compulsive behavior, then from seven to eight because dammit all I forgot something? The one that was over, finito, stick-a-fork-in-it levels of frickin' done no matter what?

Yeahhhh. Disc nine is currently in progress. *headwall* My plan is to finish it, then burn a copy, and then SHOVE IT SIDEWAYS UP [livejournal.com profile] lbitw'S ASS BECAUSE IT'S HIS %&$!ING FAULT, THAT'S WHY. (Jason, sir, you know I love you, but don't ever screw with OCD Boy's head like that again, okay? Contrary to appearances, I actually like sleeping.)

So, anyway. Because making the leap from 160 to 180 tracks is necessitating some barrel-scraping, I find myself trying to define the borders of a genre that frankly no one can really define. So I ask your opinion: I'm figuring "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" by Digable Planets is probably aiming too wide for the genre, but what about "Sleeping Satellite" by Tasmin Archer?

(Please note that I'm not asking if you happen to like the track in question. There's plenty on this mix that I'm less than in love with; the main concern is whether the song (a) was released or received its peak airplay in the 90's; (b) might have been heard on alternative rock radio during that time frame; and (c) mentally transports me back to when I was young, free and stupid, as opposed to old, tax-liable and stupid.)

Y'know, if you're committing to the 180 tracks, you should realize that going for the full 200 tracks/ 10 discs is only 10% more beyond that. Well, 11.1%, but really just a small addition.

[ducks, covers and runs]

*glowers* I will smite you in your sleep.

Yeah, I was about to mention that 200 is a much nicer number then 180. I figure if I am gonna get sodomized for this, I might as well REALLY deserve it.

That's precisely what I needed to hear. Thank you!

Actually, I'm doing oddly well this time around. I'll let you know, though. Thanks for the offer!

You'll have to post a track listing for those of us who aren't going to get a copy of this mix but might be interested to take a trip down memory lane!!
