The thing about long-term telephone relationships is that after a while, the phone calls take a turn for the different. This is a good thing, a very good thing, indeed. But we're noticing that we speak a different language, now that we've gotten past the initial blush. Now it's in-jokes, puns, literary and cinematic references, and vague and not-so-vague innuendo.

Me: And yet we don't have our own WB dramedy yet.
[livejournal.com profile] rafaela: If we did, they wouldn't be playing the theme song at anyone's senior prom.

(By the way, we've discussed the theme song issue. She hit it on the nose: "It's All Right, Ma, It's Only Witchcraft," by Fairport Convention. [livejournal.com profile] rafaela again: "If Richard Thompson were dead, he'd be spinning in his grave.")

*blink* Did you ever have someone set you up for so many potential offhand comments that you were paralyzed as to which one to choose?
