Uninspired
Jun. 27th, 2003 09:45 pmOkay, I admit that I'm basically forcing myself to write this right now, because I am so far behind in getting stuff posted that I'll be forced to let stuff go. (Heck, I never even wrote about Abbey's dance recital, which was weeks ago. Quick summary: She did fantastic, in an ensemble that looked like five slightly dizzy miniature Carol Channings. Too cute.)
So anyway, here's what's on my mind:
1) Saturday was Trey's semi-official Birthday Bar Crawl, wherein (a) I got introduced to chocolate martinis and pink squirrels, not that I needed any more tasty alcoholic concoctions in my life; (b) Trey's dog Sambuca decided to sink her mandibles of death into my calf muscle, proving that she loves everybody except me; and (c) we all got to learn a few things about Trey's snoring habits and 400-pound sturgeons. Oodles of fun all around.
2) Note to self on an unrelated matter: for crying out loud, ground first before you start with stuff like that. Yes, Adam I know you say you grounded, but next time, do it better. (And many, many thanks to Kristi for bringing me back down.) I may have to write more on this one sometime.
3) Nik has perfected that art of "D'oh!" Abbey, meanwhile, actually "raised the roof" in my presence the other day, complete with "You go girl...it's your birthday...you go girl...it's your birthday..." chant. Yes, it's adorable, but I hate the thought that I've already lost them both to the jaws of the pop culture leviathan. Sigh...
4) As an aside: Y'know, I kinda vaguely remember sex, wayyyy back in the recesses of my mind. It was fun, if I recall correctly.
5) I've started wearing an earring again here and there, for the first time in years. Don't know why; just seemed like the Thing to Do. I still need help, though: I tried putting one in by myself yesterday, and drew blood. Go, me.
6) I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to realize that the combination of (a) a library card and (b) a CD burner is a very potent combination, indeed. Especially when combined with (c) a scanner for the cover art. I think I've just crossed the line from home taping to bootlegging.
