All of the everything
May. 23rd, 2004 11:55 pmGads, my posts as of late have become more infrequent than GWB's non-election-year press conferences. Let me give a quick rundown of all the things I'd have been posting about if I'd actually been taking the time to do so:
1) I got to meet and jam with
rafaela's comrade Bill on Thursday. A good man: eclectic, gets all of the Monty Python references, knows not only the lyrics but also the chords to "The Poor Ditching Boy." In general, someone I really must spend more time with (especially since he was good enough to slip us a burn of Babbacombe Lee and all).
2) Today was Hang Out With the Kids Day, which was quite pleasurable, all things considered. The original plan of a picnic on Prospect Mountain got scuttled by a large padlock holding the gate to the scenic road shut. (Fair enough—we'd have had a lovely view of, well, clouds.) So we went for Contingency Plan A, which consisted of freezing our bodily extremities off at a picnic table next to the lake while trying to assemble PB&J sandwiches, which the kids collectively ate about 6 bites from. More successful was the trip to Crandall Park, even though there were no ducks to feed and I soundly brained myself on a wooden crossbar when I forgot that the playground equipment was designed with someone shorter in mind. Ah, well.
3) Colleen and I introduced
rafaela to the joys of Dirty John's Hot Dogs. Nothing more need be said.
4) I'm wicked-tired at the moment, but I'm not inclined to go to bed just yet. I haven't had much opportunity to connect with you all in LJ-Land lately; I've even missed enormous chunks of my friends' list here and there, which does not please me. Besides that, there's a thunderstorm brewing outside that I want to wrap myself in and just...be. Y'know?
5) I just realized that e-mail would do me good. If any of you is moved by the spirit to do so, I'd be happy to hear from you.
