Mail from Mom
Sep. 15th, 2004 12:58 amI got an e-mail from my Mom today, for the purpose of communicating three things:
1) A large box was on my way. (As a matter of fact, it arrived less than an hour before I received the message; more on that tomorrow morning, when I'm a little more coherent.)
2) My Grandma was in the hospital yet again, for unaccounted-for bleeding. She's out and in reasonably not-bad shape, but they've scheduled another round of tests on the north side of Chicago, which my Uncle Jack will be chauffeuring her to because my Grandpa is still recovering from her carpal tunnel surgery.
3) Mom will be heading down to Alabama this Friday, to see if her newly-completed dream house is still standing. Since the house is built within 30 yards of the Gulf Coast itself (as in, her backyard is the beach), and apparently about 9 inches from where the hurricane will reach landfall, no one is holding out much hope.
I was wondering if I could prevail upon all of you to send some happy thoughts toward my Mom and her husband Bob and my Grandma and my Grandpa. I'll be sure to pass on the well-wishes, voiced or otherwise. Thank you so much.
