Have I mentioned lately that I have the bestest friends in the whole wide world?

This weekend was spent indulging in a marathon a geek boy could only dream of: all six Star Wars movies in numerical order, along with the Clone Wars animated series and bits and pieces like "Troops" and that Lego thingy. This was engineered by the hostses with the mostses, [livejournal.com profile] jenphalian and [livejournal.com profile] lbitw, who began the festivities on New Years Eve and finally brought them to a close this afternoon. Lemme tell you, Sparky: it was an epic journey like no other.

Episodes I & II and half of Clone Wars ran until about 11 p.m. on New Years Eve, after which the bedraggled masses held out until we could ring in the new year with some explodey gunpowder trinkets, then crawled off to bed; our hosts were kind enough to allow [livejournal.com profile] rafaela and me (indeed, they insisted) to crash on their futon. Next day saw the rest of the animation, the screening of Episodes II, IV and V, and the arrival of [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie. (We did sleep at home that night, although part of me wishes we'd stayed.) Finished up this afternoon with Episode VI and much huzzahing.

I was in for the whole shebang, except, unfortunately, for the last hour or so of Jedi because of a situation back home that needed to be dealt with. But it was as much fun as I've had in a long, long time. I haven't even mentioned Jen's spaghetti and meatballs, or her pancake and bacon breakfast, or the Chinese take-out, or all of the assorted stealth errand running, or the hyperactive Nate-boy, or the game of Ticket to Ride that I lost spectacularly, or my rubbernecking over everyone else's Kingdom of Loathing exploits, or the 18,926 snarky comments about George Lucas's dialogue and Luke wanting to get it on with his sister, or the trivia that'd make any geek-sage proud, or the repeated toasts evey time someone gets a limb lopped off or says that they have a bad feeling about this....

Guys, it was the best. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything.

The following photo was taken during a lull between (I think) new trilogy and old trilogy, on the Couch o'Doom (photo courtesy of Jen, and taken by Jason's young'un, LJ-less Nate). There are hats!

Biggish photo lurks beneath, much that eyeball-on-a-stick in the garbage compactor )
