I'm realizing that I never did write this up properly. So:

1) North Country Open MRI is a tiny little office at the end of this narrow little hallway with these low little ceilings. That must be their idea of psychological preparation.

2) In retrospect, I should have left my key card to the Verizon office in my pocket. "Oh, dear, I can't seem to get into the building today. Guess I'll have to skip work."

3) The technicians were awesome people, very good at taming the free-range freakout. I was asked if I was claustrophobic about six times or so. Answer: "Don't know." My main concern wasn't so much that as trying to lie perfectly still for 45 minutes, since I'm like a kid getting his ears cleaned much of the time.

4) "You can't move your jaw or tongue, either." Crud.

5) Okay, do NOT think about that episode of The X-Files, do NOT think about that episode of The X-Files, do NOT....

6) My mom's advice going in: "Have a nice nap."

7) Didn't open my eyes once through the whole thing. The only real indication I had that I was in the Washing Machine of Power was when I flexed my fingers about 3 inches, and met plastic. Oh, dear.

8) The noise wasn't a problem at all, especially once I started thinking of it as a Bauhaus outtake.

9) The contrast dye was much less of a problem than I thought it'd be. I found out from the doctors that that was because the horror stories I'd heard from Anna only apply to CAT scans. (She told me she felt like she was being embalmed.)

10) Y'know, the whole shoving-you-head-first-into-a-giant-Etch-a-Sketch thing aside, those things are bloody comfy. I seriously didn't want to get up once they'd yanked me out. Of course, that also had to do with the fact that the magnet had scrambled my sense of balance something fierce.

11) In the end, all went well, and I somehow held still enough for them to get a clear reading. SHould hear from Dr. B sometime before Wednesday.

12) I skipped work anyway. So there.
