Today was an object lesson in listening to those "I've got a bad feeling about this" feelings when they pop up. The plan was to bop on down to Troy to attend the weekly meeting of the RPI Juggling Club, which we've been meaning to do for ages, and spend a lovely afternoon avoiding flying object and ogling the cute geek boys and girls. Nice plan, except for the fact that it didn't work. To wit:

1) Thanks to some Internet-induced insomnia last night, I ended up sleeping in until nearly noon, which meant us getting down to Troy an hour and a half into a three-hour meeting. Oops.

2) When we finally did arrive, we discovered that the '87 Gymnasium, home of said meeting, could only be entered with the use of a student-issue scanner card, which we did not have, and which we could not scam off of anyone else because between the cold and the Sundayness, the campus was deserted. Boo.

3) Upon returning to the car, we found out what that unpleasant hissing noise was when we were pulling in: in my efforts to parallel-park on a steep downhill, I had managed to wedge the right rear tire against the curb in such a way that it drained a great deal of air out of it. Ugh.

4) We remembered the hard way that one's backup plan of stopping at some friends' place doesn't work if one has neglected to call and find out if said friends are home. Rats. (We're sorry, [livejournal.com profile] botia and [livejournal.com profile] icarusfallen8 for missing you.)

5) Bleagh. Just bleagh.

All's well, though. Tire is once again aerated, good cheeseburgers were consumed, home has been reached, [livejournal.com profile] daev, [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie, [livejournal.com profile] lbitw and [livejournal.com profile] odhierre have been chatted with on the phone (and [livejournal.com profile] zimarra and [livejournal.com profile] tidesong online), and chilling out is in progress. Life is, once again, good.
