Entries are still being accepted for the Alt90's music quiz, being held here; there have only been four entreies so far, so your chances are quite ducky at this point. (In response to a question passed on to me, I apologize for it being on YouTube rather than in an mp3 file. Unfortunately, I don't have the audio editing equipment to create such a sound file; I do, however, have iMovie, which is why it's in this format. If people prefer, I can offer up the original QuickTime file on yousendit.com or some such.)

1) A happy Midsummer, all! Here, Nature has decided to celebrate with Wagnerian thunderstorms and the most autumnal summer day we've had this year. This suits me very, very well indeed.

2) This week, I've found a total of 14 four-leaf clovers and two five-leafers. This had better damned well balance out all this Mercury-in-retrograde malarkey.

3) Took boy-child and girl-child to Six Flags Great Escape this morning (their grandparents generously sprung for season passes not only for them, but for me as well—thank you again!), where the following conversation took place while waiting in line for the bumper cars:

Abbey: [pointing out the test-your-strength game] And oh, Dad! Over there, you can win a prize by hitting that thing with a hammer.
Me: Um, sweetie? Let me put this to you gently: Your dad's a wuss.
Abbey: Whoops. You haven't been working out lately, have you?
Me: No, I haven't.
Abbey: Ah. [reaches into her pocket and hands me a dime]
Me: What's this?
Abbey: My lucky dime. I think you might need it.
Teenager Behind Us in Line: Oh, man. You just got called out by your own kid.
Me: Yeah. It happens. Frequently.
