slipjig3: (orson welles)
Today was to have been the start of CinemaBowl II, the follow-up to last year's massive bracket-style competition amongst hundreds of movies for the hearts and minds of the LJ readership, only this time, it was to have been to find the worst movie ever made. I chose the 512 films that would be participating, made up the brackets, typed up the first several polls to save time.

I am officially backing out. CinemaBowl II will not happen.

It's due to a combination of two things:

1) The movie list is way more obscure this time around. This is due to the nature of bad movies in general: while the good ones stick around, the bad ones, unless they're vehemently awful, tend ot fade in the collective memory. Thus, I can't imagine more than two or three die-hard MST3K fanatics really getting into a voting list filled with stuff like Mesa of Lost Women and Moment by Moment, which means I'm staring down the barrel of a total washout.

2) This is a snootload of work. I don't want to do a snootload of work if I'm staring down the barrel of a total washout.

So. I may regroup at some point, I may not. Right now, though, my heart's simply not in it. I'm so sorry to those of you (both of you) who were looking forward to this. I was, too, but now that I'm here...*shrug*
