The first real winter storm has decided to dump itself upon us, so we've officially declared this a soup-hot-cocoa-and-mindless-entertainment night. Go, us! The soup was chicken & sausage gumbo, the cocoa came complete with whipped cream (me, wielding Reddi-Wip can over [livejournal.com profile] rafaela's mug: "Now, I need to be careful, 'cause I tend to go a little overboard with this stuff...." *SCHCHTHWXXXXFFWRFFFXXTHPTHPTHBTHTH* "...oops."), and mindless entertainment is, fortunately, not too difficult to come by.

See, here's how easily amused I am: I installed Return of the Incredible Machine on the PC that [livejournal.com profile] issendai gave us (I'd bought the game for my Mac ages ago, but couldn't run it on the current OS X without Classic mode; luckily, this disc is dual-system). Now, this is a complex and educational system that allows one to create complex and dazzling Rube Goldberg machines. So naturally, I constructed a room consisting entirely of springboard floors, pipe walls and pinball bumpers, lobbed in 11 balls and one cat, and let 'er rip. Dude, I could watch this thing for hours.

Beyond that, I've been making an effort at returning to a more social state of being, which seems to be suiting me. Oh, and writing! Not only did I finally get another page and a half done on The Noise of Endless Wars, it looks like there's some momentum behind it. Can I get an amen, somebody? *offers hand for high-fiving purposes*

And with that, I need cocoa....
