Rock of Ages 13 and Under
Aug. 12th, 2009 10:32 pmA few items from today, all regarding my kids and their respective musical tastes, such as they are:
1) I made the mistake of showing them the video for "The Llama Song" the other day. They spent almost all of our time in the library forcing me to sing what I knew of it repeatedly, until Abbey had the "orange slayed the rake" section memorized, which was clearly the portal to a fresh and shiny hell.
2) Nik finally got to cash in his birthday present: a gift card to a local music store. His choice? Kidz Bop 16. Dear Reader, somewhere, somehow, we have failed.
3) In the car, I tempted fate by introducing them to "My Pal Foot-Foot" by the Shaggs. Comments from the back seat ranged from "Boo!" to "Turn it off!" to a horrified "AAAAUGH!" until Abbey brought the matter to a halt with a thoughtful, "Waaaiiit...it's so bad that it's actually good." Dear Reader, somewhere, somehow, we have succeeded beyond all measure.
4) And, oh yeah, they both still love the White Stripes. Score.
