Paltry days, exemplary nights
Apr. 3rd, 2010 11:27 pmWorking weekends is getting seriously old.
Things that don't get old, however: First Friday Filk at Mandala house, hosted as always by the always-awesome
aquila_dominus and
cluegirl. Present: our hosts,
rafaela,
maverick_weirdo,
botia,
blimix (who did the first Black 47 cover I've ever heard),
light_in_motion, five people whose names I lack, a plethora of cats and two snakes who popped by for cuddling purposes. Played: everything from Stan Rogers to Squeeze to Nick Cave to insert-name-of-filker-here, and everything else in between. Anna & I did "I'm in Love with a Big Blue Frog" and "Down Where the Drunkards Roll,"
cluegirl joined me on "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," several people joined in on "The Folkie," "Dead Egyptian Blues" and "Internet Porn," and I debuted a new filk, "One by One." Consumed: blood orange soda and the most killer gingerbread ever. A fantabulous evening for all.
And as for Doctor Who...I think I should hold off on any commentary on "The Eleventh Hour" for a moment when I'm not hardcore geeking out over it. That said, I'll settle with OMIGOD MATT SMITH IS AWESOME I'M GEEKING SO HARD RIGHT NOW AAAAHHHHH! *cough*hack*wheeze* Yes, well. Carry on.
