* I've just received notification that my car loan has been paid in full! Woohoo! My first self-paid-off vehicle! Harold the barely-ambulatory, ticking Balkan cluster-bomb of rumpled and fiery ill will is mine! All mine! Ha ha ha, ha ha! Ha! I do love it so.

* Unrelatedly, I had eel for lunch. It was tasty! And eely!

* Reason #4926 why I adore David Sedaris: the fact that he could not only write the line, "...Donna Summer, who has her minuses but can really put the fear of God into a chaffinch,” but keep it completely in context.

* Half-and-half lemonade and iced tea is one of those products that was unheard-of only a few years ago, but once it hit, it hit hard, leaving those of us among the hoi polloi wondering how such a bit of genius had eluded us for so long. Ahhh...

Okay, so I've been thinking about con costuming for a while now. For the longest time, I didn't much care about dressing up (although I've appreciated the efforts of others), but lately I've been thinking that my usual habit of packing six geek T-shirts and calling quits is missing something. Brainstorming, though, wasn't really leading anywhere interesting. Steampunk is very appealing, but being late to the game, I doubt my ability to bring anything new and interesting to the table on that, especially with so many talented people already doing such gorgeous work; I don't want to attempt steampunk unless I can seriously work the "punk" aspect, and I lack the wherewithal.

That, however, doesn't rule out Victoriana and Edwardiana in other forms, and that's where I've been gravitating. But again, since these are SF/F cons we're talking about, I don't want to just throw on a waistcoat unless there's something else involved to nudge it out of the mundane. Something that is both fantastical and, well, me.

As of 15 minutes ago, problem solved: Victorian vest and trousers, with the standard period accoutrements.

And this:

Adam the Rabbit squee'd out loud. Squee'd, I say. (For those of you unaware that Adam is a Rabbit, check icon above, for to please. Thank you.) Sadly, I don't think I can justify the eighty dollars at this stage of my life, which is why I should never look at anything again whilst unemplyed. L'sigh. Someday, though. Someday...
