Hey, kids! Let's put on a show!
Dec. 5th, 2010 11:56 pmAs a disclaimer, this is just my what-if, thunkin'-out-loud voice talking here, nothing more:
As many of you know, I've been working on and off for a while trying to get some of my songs recorded, if not perfectly then at least at somewhat listenable demo quality. With the exception of "88 Lines," however, everything I've been laying down has been my "I are serious songwriter" stuff, completely skipping over the quasi-filkish quasi-funny material. Somewhere along the line I think I decided that the lighter songs would lose that je ne sais quoi after 79 takes inmy bedroom the studio and basically shrivel up and die.
So what I'm thinking here is that at some point I could do a small house concert locally for the express purpose of getting a "live" recording done. For this to happen, I'd need several things; most crucially, I'd need someone to handle the audio, as I have absolutely no performance equipment, and almost nothing even for the recording aspect. So we're talking someone with mics, a mixing board, a (small) amp, and some way to get the whole kit and caboodle onto CD once the dust has cleared. Anyone out there know anyone? Any ideas what the fees will be like?
And would you be interested in attending or even hosting a house concert by some schlub who hasn't played a full gig in over 15 years?
