slipjig3: (shaggs)
[livejournal.com profile] kimberly_a recently posted her ten (okay, twelve) favorite songs of all time, and I wasn't going anywhere for the next 45 minutes, so I thought I'd chime in. Any list of this sort is going to be arbitrary to some degree, of course, but I tried to stick with the ones that have stuck with me for multiple iterations of the List in My Head. (That said, the bottom three are on the shaky side, but the others are about as rock-solid as I'm going to get.)

1) "A Sailor's Life," Fairport Convention
2) "Johnny Appleseed," Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros
3) "The Queen of Argyll," Silly Wizard
4) "Pictures of Matchstick Men," Camper van Beethoven
5) "When I Get to the Border," Richard and Linda Thompson
6) "The Messenger," Daniel Lanois
7) "Red Right Hand," Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
8) "Leslie Anne Levine," The Decemberists
9) "All Good Times Are Past and Gone," The Drovers
10) "No Wow," The Kills

EDIT: Forgot "Tanglewood Tree." Dammit.
