I finally went ahead and removed my last name from my LJ settings, mostly because, well, nobody else uses their full name around here. I bow to peer pressure. (It's sort of like that moment at the rock concert when you realize you're the only one who's still clapping your hands over your head.) Besides, it's not like anyone with a subscription to Games can't figure it out. Admittedly, I do harbor the nagging fear that someone's gonna read my Interests list, recognize who Cecilia Tan is, and come around looking for "that kinky li'l crossword dude." (For the record, the title "that kinky li'l crossword dude" properly belongs to Eric Albert, but I can't actually say that because I don't know the guy personally.)

Terribly clever of you my good man. I generally try to keep that stuff out of anything on the Web because my family is insane, and I did put my last name up on a Web site a couple of times and an old boyfriend (read: psycho) did find me. "Let sleeping dogs lay" (or lie? I hate grammar) I always try to mutter while poking the poor bugger when other's backs are turned.

Heehee... I think in my case, the only reasons I dodn't do this sooner are (a) vanity, and (b) a pathological aversion to using pseudonyms (my identity crises are bad enough as it is).

Paganmommy bugs me to pieces. I came up with it a long time ago just before I started hostin at Moms Online because I was feeling crowded out by the "Moms4Christ" crews that had infiltrated. I haven't come up with another aside from Gossamerwings that suited me. *shrug*. Not particularly fond of my given name either. I do understand your quandry though, but Adam isn't a pseudonym, nor is it revealing, so you are all set. :)

Don't worry, I'll never reveal your name as Adam Fr...er, Smith. Adam Smith.

Hey, you founded capitalism!

"paganmommy" isn't that bad; heck, it's what got me to look at your journal in the first place. :) Adam isn't incriminating, I guess; it actually works very interestingly with my last name: Adam="man of earth"; Fromm="pious." As my ex-wife used to say, "It's not a name, it's an allegory."

On the minus side, it keeps reminding me of Ethan Frome, who should have crashed the sled into the tree a lot sooner. I've been meaning to make this remark for a while, but suddenly it seems vaguely appropriate.

Yes. Yes, he should've. Actually, I'll take Ethan over Squeaky in the mental-association department any time. Unfortunately, the only one that matches the spelling is Erich the psychoanalyst. Pooh.
