Just called the hotline for jury duty information in Warren County, and heard the most blessed thing: "You do not need to report in on Monday; all prospective cases have been disposed of." My week just got a whole lot better, kids. (Does this mean I need to return the dress I was planning on wearing?)

In other news, Marci (the sister-in-law, not the coworker) needs someone to design a wedding invitation for her, because evidently there is no such thing as over-the-counter invitations with Peanuts characters. Or at least not with Charlie Brown, representing Chuck, and Marcie...well, you get the idea. So, the job gets assigned to Mr. Page Layout Guy (me), and admittedly, I'm planning on having a great time with this project. The trick is finding good images of the characters to scan. Luckily, we found some finger-puppet cutouts that will serve nicely. Even better, Kristi, alias Ms. Cool Artist Chick, decided to redraw the two so that they're dressed in bridal gear and holding hands, and did a phenomenally gorgeous job of it. (Have I mentioned that I'm ridiculously in love with her?) Unfortunately, she went and got all paranoid because the Peanuts Web site mentions a $150,000 fine for copyright infringement, and apparently she thinks the Schultz estate keeps wiretaps for just this sort of event. Could somebody help me talk some sense into her?

Other than that, the Big Thing right now is my mom coming to visit from Illinois this weekend. She's staying in our room, so we're furiously cleaning the bajeezus out of the place, hiding the erotic literature and the Wiccan spell guides, that kind of thing. Admittedly, though, I still have enough Rebellious Teenager in me to want to bolt wrist shackles to the wall over the bed, just to see if she says anything. Either that, or a Ziploc of baking powder on the bedside table...

I do believe the copywrite thing only applies if you are making money off of it. :) Tell Kristi she is safe :)
Oh, and don't do anything rebellious, because I feel relatively certain that mom has tons of incriminating and embarassing tales to regall your in-laws with about you. LOL :)

She also might be able to claim "fair use" -- I've fallen out of the details, but you could probably claim it's parody.

Me? Incriminating stories? (Let me rephrase that: Incriminating stories that she hasn't already spilled?)

Well, yeah, but sadly, I don't really have the legs for a skirt anymore.

Oof, I think parody is stretching it a bit. Having said that, though, I think it is fair use, since it's for private use only, and no earnings are coming directly from it. But she disagrees; she got hit with all the copyright mumbo-jumbo in a recent education class, so I don't know if she's giving accurate information of if they just made her paranoid. She e-mailed the Schultz estate to ask permission, though, so we'll see what happens.
