The following will make absolutely no sense to anyone outside the Albany area and its surrounding environs, but I am in a state of deep mourning, complete with anguished writhing and pathetic wailing: This is Susan Arbetter's last day at WAMC public radio.

The team of Susan and Joe Donahue were the only reason to ever listen to the pledge drive. The Round Table was the only reason to drag my sorry heinie out of bed before 11 a.m. on a day off. And as I've said in this very forum, she could read the owner's manual to an Amana dishwasher, and I'd tune in.

*sigh* I need bourbon.

You actually listen to the "Fun Drive"? I won't go anywhere near the channel during those weeks (though I have just recently heard good stuff about it. I don't want to listen to people constantly asking me for money. I don't have any to give, and even if I did they would still continue to ask.)

It will be odd to not have her on in the morning.

She will be on public tv at some point.

As far as WAMC goes anyone who is talking who is not Allen I am happy to hear. If he is talking I go and find something else to do very quickly.
