On my way to lunch, I nearly ran over a squirrel carrying a tennis ball in its mouth.

Um, just to make sure I'm not missing anything, that's not one of the signs of the Apocalypse, is it?

Squirrel-sized. As I said to someone else, it was a damaged ball, so it probably had something to grab onto, but that still doesn't explain what it waas planning on doing with the thing.

My other Action Squirrel moment: Southeast Portland. Under trees. Walking a neighborhood street. Seeing a squirrel walking along an overhead line. Looking away. Looking back. Seeing a blur in my vision. Hearing a *wump* (not a *splat*). Seeing said squirrel on the road now, wide stance, looking ready to spring on something. Or someone. Yes, the squirrel had jumped or fallen from the line and landed on its feet. It then ran.

My eyes? Wide.

Heh. I got lemon cukes out the wazoo. I'd send you one, if I thought it would survive the mailing.... they look kind of like tennis balls, without the markings, and they're bright yellow.
