I don't know why these things always seem to work best in numbered list format like a damned PowerPoint presentation, but I'm not going to argue with success:

1) Uneventful trip to Cambridge, where "uneventful" is greater than or equal to "not having another &*#@ing blowout on the interstate."

2) 12th floor. Again. Sigh.

3) Did all of jack and metric squat on Friday. My Friday activities usually center around finding the most central location, parking myself at it, and waving to all the friends I haven't seen in ages as they amble by, pausing only to ask about the ones I haven't seen yet.

4) It was Arisia's second year at the Hyatt in Cambridge, and they seem to have dealt with a lot of the bugs: better (i.e. larger and not a frickin' fishbowl) location for the con suite, putting Fast Track on the 14th floor instead of the dealers' room to fix the elevator problem as much as it's ever going to be fixed, and generally smoothing out the rough bits. As of late Saturday, a lot of us were looking around suspiciously and saying, "This...is going...very well. I, um, don't know how to deal with that."

5) Niiiice buffet!

6) I filked. Saints preserve me, I filked, and I lived to tell the tale. It actually started in the hallway outside the Ziggurat Labs party, when [livejournal.com profile] shadesong pulled rank ("I'm having a bad day, and you have to do what I say") and ordered me to get my guitar and do "88 Lines about 44 Fangirls," which I did, along with "I'm the Guy at the Con Who...." From there, I was talked into going to the open filk that evening by a persuasive mob (including [livejournal.com profile] maverick_weirdo and [livejournal.com profile] eustaciavye, who are as guilty as hell), where I did "Love in Zero G" and "Dead Egyptian Blues" before reprising "88 Lines" under orders from [livejournal.com profile] felisdemens. I got a very nice reception (good to meet you, [livejournal.com profile] outlander!) and got recorder, so I guess this means I'm officially a filker now, but I'm still not telling my mom.

7) Two words: eye candy. 'Nuff said.

8) Didn't LARP. Probably should have. Dammit. Next time, [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard and [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel, I promise.

9) Understand that I do not say this about dances, ever: the Saturday night dance was mind-bogglingly awesome. This is in spite of the fact that "Cotton-Eye Joe" was ending and "Barbie Girl" was starting up as I went in (and [livejournal.com profile] bikergeek tried to jinx it further by invoking Debbie Gibson). But this turned out to be an aberration; from there it was Bauhaus and Rob Zombie and Placebo and Lords of Acid, and even the cheese was good. (Numa numa?!) Also, good company to enjoy it with. And no, I didn't dance.

10) Juggling! Whee! I passed clubs and didn't kill anyone!

11) Got some good gaming in, including Chez Geek and I'm the Boss, which was the second-hardest I'd laughed all weekend, and Talent Pool, the game I've been developing for ages, which [livejournal.com profile] yendi was kind enough to help me playtest. Thanks, Adam! Oh, and the Chez Geek game led to swapping card magic techniques with [livejournal.com profile] perldiver until oh-dear-God-thirty in the morning on Friday. Worth it.

12) Against my better judgement, I entered the Eye of Argon reading contest on Sunday night. [livejournal.com profile] eustaciavye ran into trouble early on. I managed to be one of nine people (out of 50-is) who made it to round 2, largely because I didn't realize that the words "sagging nipples" were exiting my mouth until after I was done. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] issendai, however, rocked, and got third prize, which included a hentai video and a book with Picard on the cover.

13) And how punch-drunk was Adam on Sunday night? Punch-drunk enough to adopt a bundle of red and black balloons and name it Fird. There are pictures. (Fird was eventually released into his natural habitat, which it turned out was elevator #1.)

14) My favorite of my new buttons: "Delaware: The world's largest Rhode Island."

15) Already coveting [livejournal.com profile] rafaela's volutneer T-shirt.

16) Confidential to [livejournal.com profile] we_happy_few and [Unknown site tag]: Those mix CDs kick ass up one side of Kickassistan and down the other. Thank you! And note to self: sleep dep + four hours behind the wheel + Baka Beyond = Adam gets high enough that he's lucky he didn't clip any mile markers.

17) I really shouldn't do this, because I always end up forgetting someone (I think [livejournal.com profile] gardenfey is gonna slug me if I skip her again), but let me attempt to say hello and thank you to everyone I ran into this weekend, and if I've left you out, let me know so I can edit: [livejournal.com profile] issendai, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, [livejournal.com profile] yendi, [livejournal.com profile] elaynajade, [livejournal.com profile] eustaciavye, [livejournal.com profile] maverick_weirdo, [livejournal.com profile] perldiver, [livejournal.com profile] frogs_are_cool, [livejournal.com profile] oneagain, [livejournal.com profile] felisdemens, [livejournal.com profile] we_happy_few, [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel, [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard, [livejournal.com profile] ian_gunn, [livejournal.com profile] gardenfey, [livejournal.com profile] bikergeek, [livejournal.com profile] chainkill, [livejournal.com profile] ayalanya, [livejournal.com profile] jmspencer, [livejournal.com profile] robdamnit, [livejournal.com profile] feste_sylvain, [livejournal.com profile] lightcastle, [livejournal.com profile] rosefox, [livejournal.com profile] avivadesai, [livejournal.com profile] happypete, [livejournal.com profile] zeyr, aaaaaand dammit dammit dammit I'm forgetting people. (Help?)

18) Monday came too quickly. I knew it would.

Thank you so much to everyone I saw for making this the best time I've had in ages. I hate that I don't get to spend as much time with individuals as I would like—too much to cram into too little time and space. I did get to spend to excellent time with some of you (you know who you are), but not enough with some others (you know who you are, too). Sigh. And Mundania is breathing down my neck, and next January is entirely too far away....

I love you guys. Thanks for all the fish.

Glad you had fun! I sooo wish I could have been there...for your filking and juggling alone. :)

One question, though...what is Arisia? I know it's a con, but for what? LJ'ers? Sci-Fi fans? Geeks in general?

If you ran into [livejournal.com profile] chainkill, you may have run into me... I did spend a bit of time hanging on his arm making him look good. :P But he introduced me to a lot of people and I can't figure out which one you might be!

What [livejournal.com profile] yendi said. It's ostensibly a SF/F con, but there's tons of stuff going on: open juggling, board gaming, LJ meetups and panels, kink and poly discussions, merchants for everything from jewelry to garb to books to musical instruments to weaponry to interesting plush, etc. etc. etc. It's just big enough to have a wide variety of activities, and small enough that you don't get buried by it all. And it's fan-run, so unlike the big commercial cons you don't have wankers from Paramount Studios trying to sell you crap.

Best part? Running Into Every Last Damn LJ Friend You Have. We are going to have to find a way to get you there next year, one way or another.

Hi! *waves* I know what you mean; I remember running into you, but I probably couldn't pick you out of a police lineup. (Too many people! Aiee!) As for which one was me, my hair's a tad shorter now and my beard had been machete'd down to a reasonable goatee this weekend, but this is basically it:

Oh, and ignore the hair clip and the angry wet cat look.

Slug you? I'm at a point where as long as I don't have to yell at you to get your homework done, you're OK in my book.

I was with someone dear to me for a lot of the weekend and certainly did not pay enough attention to other folk. I am not so good in large groups of people and am likely to be in my own world for reasons of psychic survival. It was nice to see you as well. Forgive the pre-occupation, please

Glad I could return the super musical karma minkies. Also glad that it didn't kill you.

I wish I'd known you were doing gaming, I would have jumped right in. Playtesting Talent Pool sounds like fun.

Since the words first came out of your mouth, there is a good chance I will begin calling you "foot foot".
