I got a call from my sister Karen today, who was getting ready to take Liam, my 4-year-old nephew, out to play in the snow. I asked her how the kid was doing.

"Well," she sighed, "Liam is Liam."

In the background, Liam piped up: "And fish is fish!" A pause. "But we don't have a fish."
