It's that season again: Blogathon is only three months away.

Yes, I am totally doing it again this year.

The Whatness of It: Blogging for charity for 24 consecutive hours, a post every 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. EST on Saturday, July 26, 2008 to 9 a.m. Sunday morning. It's as fun and as whacked out as it sounds.

The Whereness of It: [livejournal.com profile] rafaela and I will once again be blogging at [livejournal.com profile] shadesong's pad as part of Team Venture, seeing as how we all (the aforementioned, plus [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard and [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel) proverbially kicked ass and took names last year. The official Blogathon is in grave doubt at the moment, as the usual organizer has had to bow out for the year, but even if no replacement is found, Team Venture will still be rockin' it freelance.

The Cause: Last year, I blogged in support of the National MS Society, in honor of my mother. This year, I will be honoring my grandfather, whose cancer we recently learned has spread to his bones, by blogging on behalf of the American Cancer Society. More details as the date approaches.

The Theme: This will be my third years participating. In my first two times around the block, I elected to go it freestyle, with no theme, which tends to lead to cranial fuse-blowing around 5 in the morning. (Last year I posted a 6:30 a.m. triangle solo. In print format. Yeah, exactly.) So this year, I will be blogging entirely—wait for it—in list format. *confetti* I'm doing this because I did several lists last year based on others' suggestions (like this and this and this and this and this and this), and had great fun with them with relatively little strain and agony. To this end, I will need your assistance in coming up with ideas for lists I could post about; come July 26, I will place your ideas in a hat, draw one every half-hour, and post my answers. I'll do something more formalized with this when we get closer to summer, but if you wanna throw anything in comments to that regard, I'll bookmark 'em and add them to the hat in July.

Can. Not. Wait.

Another year off

With apologies, I will not be able to organize the Blogathon this year. I have very good, very personal reasons for this. There is still a possibility of other organizers stepping in, and we'll let you know if that happens. I hope to be back on board next year.

:/ I was actually thinking about pulling it off this year....

Yep, he was aware of it earlier (he and [livejournal.com profile] shadesong talked about that on her Blogathon entry earlier today). But the event can be done freelance, even if an official organizer doesn't step up (which happened one year).
