Y'know what the hardest part about running CinemaBowl is? trying to come up with something interesting to say about it every damn day. Oh, well: For each pair of directors, choose the one you prefer. As always, there are two polls, so be sure to click on both "Submit" buttons (not sure why it hasn't been working well for some of you, sorry). Deadline is Thursday, May 8 at 1 p.m.; if you're interested, there's also still time to answer yesterday's poll, which closes at 1 p.m. today. This poll is now closed, and all votes have been recorded. Thanks for playing!

Hey Adam... a favor?

Could you put the polls behind a lj-cut, please?

There were some insanely hard choices here.

I think for me the only really hard choice I had was between Mira Nair and David Lynch. For the rest of them there was an immediate reaction toward who I wanted to pick. I *REALLY* want Guillermo del Toro to move on.

I think Richard Donner, I think Randy Newman (who worked with him only once) saying "His real first name's not Richard, it's Dickwad." Newman didn't like working for him. The resulting score for Maverick is fairly clever -- more so than the film -- but Newman wanted to have prettier, more romantic music for Jodie Foster's character ("she never looked as good as she did in that film, and I wanted to reflect that") and Donner wouldn't allow it.

That's one of the reasons I voted for Godard over Donner. Nothing to do with having seen any of Godard's films, which I haven't.

Funny how you ended up voting against Donner instead of for Godard, because that's pretty much how I ended up voting for Donner: because I think Godard is hopelessly overrated. Just me, mind you, and it's obviously a minority opinion.

Yep. It's reaching the point where I want to kick my own ass.

Well, he seems safe this round, and he's likely safe the next, but come the Conference Semi-Finals, he'll be facing either Rob Reiner or Hayao Miyazaki, at which point...there'll be trouble.
