Wow. I must've been a wee bit tuckered out, seeing as how I haven't dragged my sorry heinie out of bed at quarter to ten in I-can't-remember-how-long. Can't have anything to do with me being online until 1:30 a.m. last night, I'm sure... *stretch*

Anywho, it occurs to me that I promised to post a souvlaki recipe a few weeks ago, and never did. Soooo:

Souvlaki

This one's courtesy of the Frug:

Ingredients:
2 lbs lean lamb cut into 1" cubes
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup red wine
1 tsp salt
freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp whole dried mint, crushed by hand
3 cloves garlic, crushed
pita bread
purple onions, sliced paper thin
tomatoes, ripe and sliced thin
plain yogurt

Method:
1. Mix olive oil, wine, salt, pepper, oregano, mint, and garlic in a large bowl.
2. Marinate cubes of meat in above mixture; mix two or three times during a 2-hour period.
3. Place meat on wooden skewers and broil, turning once, until tender but still a little pink on the inside.
4. Serve in a grilled pita loaf with onions, tomatoes, and yogurt on top.

And now this has taken over craving duties from the Thai green chicken curry I was jonesing for. Sigh...
