Youth in Misery
Nov. 7th, 2010 09:04 pmNothing like creeping illness to make a weekend festive! The kidlings came out to visit whilst their mom attended the New England Webcomics Weekend (which is my cue to state categorically that I do not in any way, shape or form envy the fact that she got signed prints and a custom drawing from Jeph Jacque, thank you very much... *sob*). Things started out well enough, with the wee ones staying up late along with a segment of
primal_pastry's brood watching haunted house investigations on the Travel Channel, continuing on Saturday with the three of us bopping around downtown Boston and dining on questionable hot dogs and watching a busker juggle knives and cram his body through an unstrung squash racket. Good times.
Unfortunately, we ended up crawling home exhausted with the kids crashing early. By the time morning rolled around, Abbey was coughing and hacking like a cub reported on a Lucky Strikes bender, and Nik had developed enough of a fever that you could keep your coffee warm on his chest. Not fun at all. So we kept today low-key and headed back to Worcester earlier than planned, which turned out to be good timing, as it meant Nik could start barfing in the comfort of his own home, the poor lad.
Hopefully this will all blow over soon for the wee ones, but even if they remain incapacitated for a day or two, the weekend has not been for nought, as I got to introduce them to Battlebots on YouTube. As I said, good times.
