Yesterday was a sort of de facto Children's Day of Misery. Abbey was the worse off of the two: she'd spent a good portion of the previous night throwing up, and carried it over into the morning and early afternoon. So she was an uhappy little girl all around, balled up under a comforter on the couch, watching TV. Poor dear. I had to work, but I was informed that all she'd wanted that afternoon was for Daddy to come home, and my heart just splintered. Sometimes I despise having a job.

Nik was a trickier case. He was also sick, but it was just a low-level coughing and phlegm show. It did keep him up some the night prior, but it didn't really affect him during the day. What did affect him was the 3-hour nap he stumbled into that afternoon, which made him quiet the unholy barbarian come bedtime. To make things worse, Grandma gave up on rocking him in the La-Z-Boy a little before 10 p.m., and moved the ordeal to his bedroom, which is an offense subject to corporal punishment in the form of him digging his fingernails into the transgressor's face. (Note to self: Cure him of that, already.) So there was much hysterical howling and thrashing and everything-but-sleeping, with two encores at 12 and 2, respectively. Oh, yay.

Both are doing much better today, thank Jeebus. Abbey's stomach-thing turned out to be a 24-hour-stomach-thing, and Nik luckily (unlike me) did not sleep in this morning, which means he'll be vegetation by 8 at the latest. Keep your fingers crossed.
