Dammit, I wanna go to Arisia.

But I can't go to Arisia.

But I wanna.

I mean, it's only four hours away, for crying out loud, and if it weren't for such little tiny insignificant details as my kids and my job I'd be on the bleedin' MassPike right bloody now instead of whinging to the collective masses about it. But unfortunately, reality has this nasty habit of interceding at times like these. So here I sit.

*overly-dramatic sigh* All right, that does it. Y'all are just gonna have to come out and visit. I'll have to start a MiddleOfNowhereCon for LJ sorts to come to the greater metropolitan Lake George area so we can all trundle over to Davidson Brothers and snark about how there's nothing to do around here. (Unless it's summer, in which case we can blow our hard-earned cash on Water Slide World.)

*long pause* Um, I think I need to end this entry, before I make the mistake of giving this serious consideration...

P.S. I don't suppose anyone could wrangle Cecilia Tan's autograph for me...?

Winter in Lake George sucks, though the nightlife in GF isn't bad as a result - because no one has anything else to do but drink and keep warm!

Me? I will be at Dango's this evening with my mom - keeping warm with alcoholic nourishment. ;-)

*grin* Okay, why exactly haven't we met yet? I'd pop by and meet you, but I'll be working 'round abut then. Phooey.

Probably cuz I'm stuck in Newburgh most of the time. But sometime when I am in the area we should get together for a drink!

Thank you! *grin*

Dang it all, now you're getting me thinking. And thinking is a dangerous thing...

I feel your pain. I live 20 minutes away and STILL can't go, due to excessive poverty. *whine*

Hmm, an LJ con... like a meetup, but on a grand scale... hmmm...

See, now, I'm utterly amazed that no one's done this yet. Only a matter of time, I suppose.

but, you see, setting up such an extravaganza involves *effort*. which is why nobody's done it on a grand scale yet.

'sokay. I'm one hour and fourty-five minutes from Chattacon, and I'm at home with my family this weekend, when I'm not driving the other direction entirely to see other friends and their kids.

It certainly does change things, doesn't it, this having children gig.

Change things? Kids? Nah, no more than a smidge. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go dig the peanut butter out of the VCR...

Funny you should say that, because I just spent 5 minutes shaking cheddar goldfish out of mine. Seriously. Red and Green ones.

Agreed.

And Cecilia's very approachable and down-to-earth... you could just go up and talk to her :-)

Yeah, we went to the same college, and had some crowds in common.

Oh, and there was that one night, eons ago, when she and I and this guy Drew got together, and stayed up real late, and...

(hums to self :-)

Hey, I've got a way to even all this time/kids/distance stuff for everyone: we have an LJ con (er, what is that? Conference? Consortium? Conflict? Constant?) in AUSTRALIA. Then *I* don't have to travel far, and everyone else is pretty much even. :D :D :D
