I was placed in charge of the wee ones yesterday (Nik for the day, Abbey after school), and decided to haul NIk up to Lake George for Americade to motorcycle-watch. While there, we passed by the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum.
Nik: Let's go in!
Me: I dunno, Nik. It looks awfully scary.
Nik: Oh, don't be scared, Daddy. It'll be okay.

*sigh* Sometimes I wonder what exactly it is I'm protecting them from.

(By the by, the yard apes were marginally better behaved this time around. Marginally. They have, however, lost their McDonald's priveleges permanently.)

EJ's like that.

Me: "It might be a little scary for you..."
EJ: "Oh, Mommy - I don't get scared anymore!"

And lo and behold, she doesn't...

*grin* What is it about kids that age that wipes the fear clean away? Abbey is Little Miss Fearless herself (unless, of course, it's bedtime and she's just been watching something about zombies).

Amazing how kids aren't scared of anything at that age.

Ouch, lost McDonalds priveleges, right during Neopets Happy Meal time. Ummmm. How would someone who has no kids know that? No, I'm not addicted to Neopets. Uh hm. Not me. No. I don't have a problem. Really I don't. Is that a Yurble toy? Can I buy that off of you?

*laugh* Ohhh, believe me, Miss Abbey will be undergoing NeoPets withdrawal very, very shortly. It's just that after three Happy Meal purchases, each of which has resulted in two-and-a-half bites of food being actually consumed, we've decided that there are better things for us to spend our money on.

Congratulations, you've just added 30 years onto your kids' lives ;-)

Unfortunately, this does nothing to slow their intake of Double-Stuf Oreos and Sour Cream and Onion Pringles, so I think it'll likely cancel out.
