She's only the approximate size of a meatloaf for three. She has no opposable thumbs. And yet, as I watch the cat tear into the futon, the carpet, and anything else suitable like a crack addict searching the couch cushions for loose change, I am fully convinced that the little *@$#!& has somehow hidden the squirt bottle. Boy, do I love animals.

[EDIT: Aha! Anna just spotted the bottle under the coffee table! All right, Fur-Thing, you're going down...]

I'm guessing you have already purchased a scratching post. Try taking her to it and teaching her to scratch it. Rub her paws on it like she's scracthing it. It will get her scent on the scratching post and start to get the idea that this is where to scratch. You could also rub catnip on it. She may be a little young to respond to catnip but hey, it might work.

The problem isn't so much that she scratches - although we're building her a scratching board. She's just running around madly, you know, sort of like Bucky on his midnight crazies. A very frisky kitten. She's only five months old, so we're going wait a bit before starting her on catnip.

maybe you should have gotten two. they could wear eachother out. actually if you were ever planning on getting another one, getting them young works better, less fighting, easier to introduce.

Believe me, I would have gladly gotten two...but our lease only allows us one cat. :-(
