In a lawyer's office, across from shelves crammed with law books:
Nik: [whispering earnestly] It's dangerous. Don't. Touch. Those. Books.
Me: [whispering back] Why? What will happen if I do?
Nik: [still whispering] Nothing. They're just boring books.

So, rapid rundown:
Yesterday was the Nikolas' 6th birthday. Yay, Nik! (Boo, me feeling old!) [livejournal.com profile] rafaela and I took him out to lunch at Friendly's, and I accompanied him to Sutton's Toy Cottage so he could pick out his birthday loot. He made off several small things, rather than one or two big ticket items: two knights with horses and weaponry, a monstrous bubble maker, a rubber cap shaped like a tentacled brain, both a robot claw and a robot hand (because let's face it, you need both), and, um, something I'm forgetting. I picked up the Rubik's Cube at the front counter, and attracted an audience while I solved it.

Last night, Anna and I had grandiose plans of going to see Clerks II down in Albany, but we ultimately abandoned them out of lethargy.

Today was the party, which I missed because of work (*pthpthbthbth*), but I got to hang out with the Birthday + 1 Boy and Abbey, who'd just returned from a week at camp. More loot for the boy, of course, including a CD mix that Anna and I made for him (Kristi nervously sought assurance that I did not put that Lords of Acid song on there). Anna, sadly, was passed out at home from a nasty stomach bug, but she seems to be improving.

And now? Ummmmm, sleep sounds good.
