slipjig3: (the dude abides)
Thanks to everyone who responded to my ask-me-anything poll. Allow me to take this opportunity to address your concerns directly:

Where in the world would you like to visit?
There's a lot of questions to answer, so I'll give you the Short List: Ireland, the Maritime Provinces, England, aaaaand lots of places tied for the fourth spot. Oh, and any of the 382 places where my LJ friends are living that I haven't gotten to yet. You know who you are.

What was your first fandom? 'Cause you never forget your first fandom... (Mine was "Star Trek.")
Star Wars, all the way. The first movie came out when I was six, and I must have seen it in the theatres at least a half-dozen times. It never got old. (Still hasn't.)

Have you read The Children of Green Knowe by L.M. Boston?
Nope! Worth reading?

You available next weekend to go to a party on Saturday night?
Wait, which weekend? I'll need to check; tell me more!

What are the songs on your Noise of Endless Wars playlist?
Not much to tell, I fear; I discovered ten minutes into Day One of writing the thing when I realized that I absolutely cannot write and listen to music at the same time, because the music draws my attention too strongly (and if there's lyrics, I can't hear the voices of my characters in my head at all). There is a playlist of my iTunes labeled "Tala," but it contains all of two songs, and I can't even remember what the second one is. The first one, though, is "Lily" by Kate Bush, but that's just because I'll likely be writing it into a scene. (And if you know anything about both the song and the novel's story line, that's a bit of a hint as to what may be coming. *evil grin*)

Who put the bomp in the bomp-de-bomp-de-bomp?
Someone with too much time on his hands. The question is, who's going to go through the trouble of taking it back out?

What's a capital city more fun to say than Ulaan Batur?
The capital of Burkina Faso: Ouagadougou.

What is your ONE favourite song RIGHT NOW?
I have been playing the live solo acoustic version of Richard Thompson's "Devonside" over and over and over again in the car, which isn't helping raise my spirits one bit, but it's such a gorgeous piece of work. "She met a boy, his health was failing / She dropped her banner and took her prize / And the only food she had was bread and morphine / But he fed on the shiver in her eyes." I need to rewrite that top 50 list now, dammit....

Why are relationships so difficult?
Because anything truly worth having is worth struggling for.

What is your absolute favorite guilty pleasure song?
Do I have to answer this one? Aiee... Well, I'll go with "Lady" by the Little River Band and move on to the next question as quickly as possible....

If we got to hang out, what would we do?
Depends on where we're hanging out. In general, though, I'm in favor of open-ended whateverness: starting with coffee at a good non-Starbucks coffeehouse, then see what direction the collective whim takes us.

Do you?
Um, who wants to know?

What's your supreme weakness when it comes to impulse buys?
I am such a sucker for Criterion Collection DVDs these days; I nearly bought a movie I know for a fact I will never, ever watch, just because it had that little "C" on the spine. (It's all [livejournal.com profile] yendi's fault. Years ago he posted the question of how many Criterion titles we own, and my answer of "Uh, none?" has filled me with shame ever since. We're up to six now.)

Would you like a mix cd from me? Send snail addy!
Definitely! And I will!

What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Oooo, tough call. If I had to narrow it down, I'd probably say Bovinity Divinity from Ben & Jerry's, but my tastes in such matters are pretty broad-reaching.

A few that are not so risqué as to require major filtration, but are probably best tucked behind the cut anyway )

Keep those questions coming!
