slipjig3: (codex seraphinianus)
I've officially decided that I'm doing costuming of some sort at my next con. I don't know what and I don't know how, but this showing up in topical T-shirts only thing is starting to make me feel inadequate. Unfortunately, the list of "things that make me feel inadequate" also includes "having no money," so this is going to have to be creative. Watch this space.

So yeah, my sartorial contributions to the weekend were close to nil, but luckily there were oodles of people to take up the slack. I have a small handful of pictures behind the cut (forgive the occasional blurriness):

Pictures of folks wearing nifty stuff )

I do have a bunch of other photos from the weekend, but they're not much about the outfits, so I'll post them another time. In the meantime, [livejournal.com profile] hughcasey has a bunch of great photos on his LJ for your perusing pleasure. (Oh, and if you see your photo posted here and would like it removed, just let me know; I already have one picture whose subject asked that I keep it behind a friend-lock, so I'll be doing that one up separately.)

(Yet more to come: "Arisia—The Necessities of Life Part 6: Music.")

Hokay, so. Have I mentioned how sometimes I'll get an idea in my head, and as soon as I do I'll immediately start whacking my head against the nearest hard surface (*WHAM*WHAM*WHAM*) because I know it's going to eat my life for the next two to six weeks? Well. [livejournal.com profile] twofiveandseven sent me a birthday care package that just arrived a couple of days ago that contained (along with two DVDs, Steak 'n' Shake chili and various tasty confections) a copy of Zombie Fluxx, which made me go all squeebouncy and zomigod-like. It also triggered my weird lust for expansion sets and blank cards and the like, which got me thunkin' about card games in general.

Then I thought: "CON GAME: The Sci-Fi Convention Card Game."

*blink*

*WHAM*WHAM*WHAM*

And life was just getting quiet again, dammit.

Now there's a few ways this can go. The easy way out is to borrow the mechanics of Chez Geek/Goth/Greek/Grunt/Guevara and create Shere Khan Chez Con, which would certainly fit the bill. The other possibility is to start from scratch with a new game mechanic, and see what happens. Three guesses as to which I'm likely going to pursue. It looks like I'll be placing another order with PlainCards soon. Sigh.

Oh, and note to [livejournal.com profile] felisdemens and [livejournal.com profile] maxymyllyn: You best be postin' that Arisia Bingo card you made.
