Playing catch-up, as one is wont to do
Jun. 29th, 2010 10:42 pmStuff I ain't done mentioned yet:
Saturday marked
cluegirl and
aquila_dominus's Midsummer Bash-cum-filksing, which was utterly delightful. The company, of course, was smashing—
blimix,
light_in_motion,
botia and
icarusfallen8 were amongst the grand assembled—and some amazing conversation and board games were afoot, but the real star was the omigod-buried-alive-in-amazing-foooood: ribs and kebabs on the grill and roasted corn and fruits and veggies and gluten-free cookies and (wait for it) MAPLE BACON CUPCAKES. You heard me, Sparky. Yes, you may weep now. A fantastic time had by all.
Today, on the other hand, I got to hang out with the kidlings for the day. Equally smashing in spite of some fairly within-standard-deviation adolescent angst and turmoil, especially once I got my head on straight and realized that, despite my joblessness, ten bucks' worth of Skee-Ball quarters is a small price to pay for a Bonding Experience. (Not so sure about the arm I threw out playing Wii Tennis, however.)
Meanwhile, I ran into a former coworker at the corner store, and found out just how bad the shifts have gotten in our absence. Dear gods, am I glad I went over the wall; I'm pretty sure failure to do so would have eventually led to my picture appearing on TV as an "artist's rendering," with my former landlady in voice-over explaining how quiet and unassuming I'd seemed to be.
Onward, ever onward....
