Christmas has arrived in force at the Chadwick-Fromm household. Mom-in-law goes nuts decorating each year, which was fine until she bought the two-talking-snowmen-on-a-sled display with a freakin' motion sensor on it. Now, I have a few problems with this:
1) She puts it right on the traffic line in the living room, so we are constantly listening to "Up on the Housetop".
2) Nik loves the thing, and will spend hours on end tripping the sensor and boogieing right there in the middle of the floor.
3) The recording that plays is always the same: first song, spoken dialog, second song. It's the dialog that's just awful:
Snowman A: It's snowing!
Snowman B: Do you want to make a snowman? (Since a snowman is saying this, it makes more sense as a come-on.)
Snowman A: Okay.
Snowman B: Wait! Do you hear...sleigh bells?
Snowman A: I think so. (Nothing more is said on the matter.)
Both: Merry Christmas! EEEEEE! (The "EEEEEE" is a sung chord that has nothing to do with anything; it sounds like the editor screwed up and didn't tell anyone.)
The one and only saving grace of this is that it draws attention away from the Santa that wiggles his hips to "Jingle Bell Rock."

Ah, well, it's all fun. The rest of the decorations are nice, the kids love it all, and Mom has a grand time. It's just the one display whose batteries I'm more than ready to hide.

Okay, I'm still laughing. Have I mentioned that I love reading your journal?
