Just got my copy of Richard Thompson's new one, The Old Kit Bag, shipped in all the way from England. My review is as follows:

Oh, my fucking God, YOU. MUST. OWN. THIS. ALBUM.

I'm still listening, so I'll have to wait on the full, coherent critique. But I can say that if the rest holds up, this may be among Richard's very best. Yes, I'm dead serious.

I'm sorry, that was the only sentence that I could coax out of my brain at the moment. I was a bit verklempt at the time.

Christ, it's out? (checks Amazon). So why the hell is the only version an import?

I still need to get it, like today.

Because even though the UK, European & Japanese editions came out weeks ago, the US version won't be available 'til May, the bastards. This one's actually worth the import prices, though, and then some. (I'm thinking of doing a track-by-track, if I can excavate some spare time from my life.)
