Confess, now:

[Poll #913912]

Sometimes I am such an utter dork that it makes my teeth hurt.

You could've blamed the virus from "Virus Alert":

It'll melt your face right off your skull
And make your iPod only play Jethro Tull

I turn down the radio, myself. And when I leave the car for an oil change, I turn off the radio so the workers don't change the channel.

But...um...I like Jethro Tull. *blares "Baker Street Muse" yet again*

No, but I turn down/off the radio, as that's polite. :)

Well, yes, at the speaker, I turn it off. At the window itself, though, I'll generally have it on, and that's where the vanity kicks in.

Mine comes out in other ways. :)

It's interesting to know that other folks have other "quirks" though... sometimes I think I'm the only one. :)

At a *drive-through*? Hardly. I'm past the age where I need to impress anybody with my knowledge of obscure bands. I did college radio 20 years ago, TYVM.

There was a weird realization I had when I started my first Real Job: in a conversation with a co-worker of my own age, I realized that nobody there cared what kind of Indie Rock I knew about. I'd just emerged from years of college and grad school, you see, and Establishing Hipster Credentials had been a major part of life for so long that it was both liberating and disappointing to see it go.

It's annoying that employers don't appreciate inclusion of a Hipster Cred category on your resume.

Being the iconoclast I am, if I don't turn the music down entirely, I'll play something odd. When I was in high school I was famous for going through the drive-thru playing songs from Tiny Toons and Animaniacs.

*nods* I turn off the radio when playing an order. Sometimes I'll play deliberately awful yet fun songs at the pickup window.

However, I also drove around my hometown blasting bagpipe music as a teenager, so my Cool Music credentials are either "Not in a million years" or "so much more than a counter jockey could ever hope for", and I am content with this.

I'd be more likely to turn up the bagpipes just to watch their expression when the feedback blew the speakers:D.

Well, I live in the Land of Cheese (Wis), unlike California who is trying to take the dairy claim away:D. I've been cooking for a living and doing this lj thing for about 5 years now. I was plonking names of people of long ago (for fun)in *google* of all things and your name came up with an lj login next to it.
When I saw the icon I was pretty sure it was you, but I actually had to read some stuff to be sure.Livejournal sure is a useful tool. You meet all kinds of weird folks 'round here. And a good thing, too:D.

Oh hell, yes. I listen to stuff so hopelessly geeky that I turn it off rather than have to explain what it is. ("What's that?" "A musical called Godspell." "Gospel? You're listening to gospel music?" "No, GoDspell. It's a musical." "What kind of music is that?" "...It's what happens to rap when it hits Belgium, can I have my donuts now?")
