slipjig3Much of the time, when I am running Yahoo! Instant Messenger and decide to quit for the night, upon doing so I am greeted with an error message that reads, "Yahoo! Instant Messenger has unexpectedly quit." Unexpectedly? Unexpected for you, Mr. Guy Who Lives in My iMac, perhaps, but see, I've already been briefed on Project Shut Down the IMs and Return to Polite Society.
There are two tone of voice I can imagine this error message coming in. One is disappointed and petulant: "Wh-where you goin'? Don't you want to talk some more?" The other is the one you'd get if you came up quietly behind a stoner in the kitchen while he's raiding the fridge: "Jesus, man, don't sneak up on me like that! You damn near gave me a coronary! Ring a bell or somethin', wouldja?"
Grr. I'm anthropomorphizing the damn computer again. Time for breakfast, methinks.
