Once again I'm rather glad for Portland being its usual fairly temperate self right now. I hope we're done with the extreme winter over here. And I hope you guys get done with it REALLY soon.

I'll randomly quote Wayne's World: "You're in a forest. With Heather Locklear. And you're very warm." ;-)

Well, it seems to have tapered off, so I'm breathing a sign of relief. Thank you!

*nods* Times when having a job only 4 blocks from home is a major hardship.

Yiddish lesson

You say "oy" when you look out the window, see all the snowmen, and go back to bed.

You say "oy vey" when you wake back up, look out the window, and notice they've all moved closer...

We have huge amounts of snow here, by the way. The U of I shut down due to the weather for the first time since the '70s. Streets are invisible; you can tell where they aren't by the locations of all the cars off the road, who guessed wrong. It was all very beautiful ... until the power went out.

*shudder* Attack of the killer mutant snow goons!

Wait, the U of I shut down? Now that's a harsh storm. (How long were you without power?)

I tromped in my boots to the nearest place with electricity -- my job. Through foot-deep snow in the middle of the road. (This is my low-calorie version of your recent PhonePost.) I waited there until I saw lights come back on in my neighborhood -- after midnight.

I should move somewhere balmier and more mild. How about Glens Falls, New York? ... What, those aren't white sand beaches?!

It's very weird to see the aboumt of snow om my car and realize that all of the side windows are clear. My car has a foot tall snow mohawk.
