To quote Taylor Negron, "You can cut the tension with a tension-cutting device." Round Two continues today with the same ol' same ol': for each pairing, select the movie you prefer, so that the winner of each contest may advance to the next round. Like, totally important: Make sure you click both submit buttons, as there are two polls here. Deadline is Friday, April 20 at 1 p.m.

EDIT: Voting is now closed for this poll; any future votes will not be counted. Thanks again!

Oh, and while I have you here, I've come to a decision regarding breaking ties. Popular vote leans heavily toward holding a run-off; a few people, meanwhile, have suggested making it a one-vote runoff, where the first vote to come in is the one that counts. Intriguing, but I am going to split the difference: Ties from Round 1 will be decided by a blitz runoff poll lasting no more than 20 minutes, to be held at an undisclosed time within the next 36 hours. Watch this space for details.

Orange Conference, Divisions A & B

[Poll #969395]

Orange Conference, Divisions C & D

[Poll #969396]

Last chance to get in on yesterday's poll until 1 p.m. today. Thanks again!

That might've been my toughest choice this round. Honestly, both Lambs and Khan rocked my world at different times for different reasons. Khan helped make me a Star Trek fan (I watched it on cable and the original series on local TV in 1983); Lambs was honestly probably the first horrific movie to really affect me emotionally, because it has such a humanistic streak that lets you care for almost everyone in the film. Both films are holding up really well, too: I saw Khan in a movie theatre in 2001 and the ending still packed a wallop emotionally (someone gasped), even though we KNEW what came afterwards with the next several Trek films and Trek series.

*raises his glass to both films*

Yea, I rarely stop and go "Hmm, damn" with some of these. But I remember the first time I heard that fatal JTK scream "KHAAANNN" with such reverence -- but Silence... it was the first horror movie I ever watched & enjoyed. I remember peering from behind the couch to see what Jame Gumb was up to.

Lotion in the basket!? Say it isn't so! I don't want the hose again!

... It just had to win for me.

You've Got Linkspam ("Lambs" and "Khan")

...and you can experience it again with The Eternal Khan!

The guys who wrote Silence! The Musical would agree with you. ;-)

Please please listen to this. You've probably heard it, but it's my new favorite song of the week.

Dude, I just watched Amadeus one of my truly formative movie-watching experiences, go down in flames under a Hobit-shaped thumb. I feel your pain.

I am of the opinion that when it is down to the Sweet Sixteen, that you hold a movie marathon of all the movies in question.

All I'm saying is, if The Dark Fucking Crystal beats Casablanca next round, I will light myself on fire.

But see... I love both movies. Given a free afternoon, which would I choose to watch? Honestly, more likely Dark Crystal. That's how I'm making the tough decisions. Maybe my attention span has just shrunk since having a baby, but I was just thinking that this round would have been a lot more awful for me had I been in college still. Ahhh, the Tarkovski marathon days.

Make sure you put the axe through my head before you start the lighter fluid thing. That would truly make the Baby Jesus cry.

What, and ruin the fun?

All right, fine. Go vote now. It's only up for 20 minutes, so hurry.
