32 titles left, kids. We've reached the point where it's down to a round a day, which means we'll be done with this thing by the end of next week. Until then, the song remains the same: for each pairing, select the title you prefer. Winners go on to the Sweet Sixteen (my, how time fails to fly!). The deadline for this round is Thursday, May 10 at 8 a.m.

EDIT: Poll is now closed; any further votes will not be counted. Thanks again!

Special note regarding Silver A/B: I do NOT want to hear it, okay? Not one damn word. People start whining, I start scowling and kicking them. *braces self for impact*

I find it amusing that Star Wars is up against Return of the Jedi.

And that Empire Strikes Back is also up for grabs.

Not to mention Raiders of the Lost Arc.

The one that hurt the most to have to choose between was Young Frankenstein vs. The Princess Bride.

Special note regarding Gold A/B: my husband is going to hate me forever now. Anyone have a place I can crash for a couple weeks until he lets me back in the house?

With Casablanca's ludicrous elimination, you voted for one of the two best films remaining in the pool. No shame there.

Is Casablanca good? I've never seen it.

Unsolicited Opinion

Casablanca is amazing, and is one of the most repeatable movies in my collection. Not only is the movie excellent, but the Lauren Bacall narrated 'making of' that is usually packaged with it on DVD is very informative and enjoyable, though I strongly recommend watching it after the movie. I haven't watched it yet with commentary, but I'm usually so busy providing my own, it's kind of moot.

While I agree that Cuckoo's Nest is one of those two best films, I had to vote for Little Shop based on my rule of voting for the movie I would prefer watching at this moment.

I was Furious when Casablanca got knocked out, though.

God, it was a Lucas BONANZA today. And painful! Utterly, completely painful!

Can it even be alleviated? Without some of my favorite films being ... eliminated...?

It will only get worse.

Imagine those of us who have been playing from Day One.

We've watched some of our person favorites go down in flames. We've watched the uninformed vote against some spectacularly better movies (Casablanca anyone?). And we've threatened poor [livejournal.com profile] slipjig with more bodily harm than he's probably ever received before.

God it's been fun.

I don't feel like doing any math.

What day next week will this be done?

Because I think it'll rock if it ends on my birthday next Friday.

Yeah, absolutely nothing can beat Princess Bride. Though I am surprised to see Godfather vs. Empire as that close a race. Empire was kinda... meh.

Empire was my favorite of all six of the Star Wars films.

However, it's The Godfather!!!

So why didn't you combine the Star Wars trilogy, the way you combined the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

Just curious...

My thought: the Star Wars flicks were made one at a time, with no guarantee until Empire had its huge release that all three films would be made (remember how ginormous a gamble Empire was), and they're tonally pretty different from each other (different directors and different co-writers, too, as opposed to the team that handled all three Rings scripts).

That make any sense?

Also, should Star Wars and Empire suffer because of Ewoks?

Well, in the same light, do they suffer in this polling because of Ep. I - III and the Special Addition versions?

The LotR films were shot simultaneously; it's not so much three movies than one very long movie split into three pieces. The Star Wars movies were written and shot years apart, each with a different director, a different screenwriter, etc.

A vote for

As much as I love Raiders, and it is in my top 10, I'm proud to be among the four [so far] who voted for The Day the Earth Stood Still.
