...and that, little children, is why one should close the windows before leaving the apartment when the sky is gray and threatening. And also, it must be said, an argument in favor of having extra towels handy.

That said, it was a good and proper thunderstorm: dark, malevolent, almost violent, like the kind we used to grow out in Illinois, only without the tornado warnings that force you to cower in your basement, rather than enjoy the fun from the comfort of your living room. I still remember one tornado warning I suffered through while I was home alone at 12, which unfortunately happened roughly ten minutes after I heard "Revolution 9" for the first time. Just a liiiiittle freaked out, suffice it to say.

yes, I was quite surprised to hear "an honest to god what I'd recognize as a thunderstorm" thunderstorm up here, for all that I'm royally sick of rain, it was wonderful. I think that's why the rain here gets to me. Back in Indy, it was sunny and nice then it'd cloud over and BLAMMO WHAM GROWL FLOOD GROWL FLASH BANG BLAMMO! and then it'd be all over with and the sun would come back out and it would be a heat index of like 120 degrees with the humidity....not this damn grey drizzley shit for weeks at a time!!!
