So I stayed home with the young'uns all day today, and I think it's safe to say that this Diem has been thoroughly Carpe'd. A few fragments of conversation with the wee ones:

[after we had been playing in the back yard for nearly an hour]
Abbey: I know what we can do! You can pull us around in the wagon!
Me: I'd rather not.
Abbey: Aw, c'mon! It'll be fun!
Me: Fun for you, maybe.
Abbey: It's good exercise! Pulling is good for you!
Me: *groans wearily*
Abbey: [seriously] You should try eating some bran cereal. It gives you energy.

[Nik tells his first joke EVER]
Nik: Knock, knock!
Me: Who's there?
Nik: Sneezy!
Me: Sneezy who?
Nik: Orange!

[at the grocery store, in front of the 25¢ gumball machines]
Me: You know, I remember when gumballs were only a penny.
Abbey: *laughs indulgently* Oh, Dad. You're so goofy.
(It was only through personal force of will that stopped me from referring to her as a "whippersnapper.")

Heehee... I thought so, but then, I'm a wee bit biased. :) The knock-knock joke is already threatening to become a family standard; Abbey's been repeating it incessantly.
