So I called [livejournal.com profile] daev on the phone a little while ago. The conversation started like this:

Me: [dialing]
Dave: Hello?
Me: WHAT THE HELL HAVE I WROUGHT UPON THIS EARTH?!

In short: Oh. My. God.

I am utterly flabbergasted by this whole thing. I had no idea people would take to that song the way they have. I am flattered, I am in awe, I am grateful beyond language. And I am regretting that I can't respond to everyone who commented and everyone who linked to it, so I'll say it here: Thank you all so much!

I still want to know when Sensitive Singer-Songwriter Guy became Overly Verbose Filker Guy. Was there a meeting that I missed or...?

(While I'm here, though, I'd like to welcome new readers [livejournal.com profile] idiomagic, [livejournal.com profile] jessicamelusine, [livejournal.com profile] patchwerkgirl and [livejournal.com profile] thatcrazycajun! *waves* Just to warn you: the song is something of a fluke, as this journal has been reliably entertainment- and content-free for the last 300 posts or so. But hey, it's the Internet, so make yourselves at home!)

So other than my inbox going all splodey-like (in a good way), it's a quiet evening, with [livejournal.com profile] rafaela reading through the latest porn, and by "porn," I mean "the Dean and Deluca catalog." Gratuitous use of prosciutto-related imagery, indeed. Need to raid the fridge now, if you'll excuse me....

I don't find it induces crying as much as a visceral "I'll be in my bunk!" kind of reaction:)

"The elusive butterfly has just tiptoped past my door...." Y'know, once upon a time, I could actually play that whole thing on guitar. Back when, y'know, I was snorting OxyClean and licking tree frogs. It's been a while, though.

There's already a full page of Google hits for "88 Lines About 44 Fangirls," and your own post isn't even indexed -- those are links to other people talking about your work.

Actually, once I kicked the Nails earworm, the main thing that's stuck in my mind is wishing I could see Elizabeth again.

Pointless bit of music trivia: the roadie for The Nails was Jello Biafra.

Dear God. My brain no longer sufficiently wraps around this whole thing.

As for Elizabeth, I keep expecting her to show up at Arisia, seeing as how she's a published writer, a known critic and a polyamory advocate. I have absolutely no idea what I'd say to her.

The hell...?!

I told you you were a good writer.
No one ever listens to me. *complains*

Oh, I listened. I just didn't know that was an example of good writing. (Thank you again, hon. *hugs*)

There are so many levels to good writing - I don't understand why people don't recognize this. It doesn't matter that people don't recognize the pan-tastic nature of good writers, though, what does matter is that no one respects my opinion and it's all cosmically unfair.

I got almost all the allusion in 88/44.
