I was on my way to bed. Exhausted I was, and told myself as much. Turn of the computer, I said, and go to bed.

Sure, thought I. Just as soon as I've picked up the guitar for a few seconds....

Uh-huh. Speculate on the details as you will.

Y'know, I'm not about to complain about getting clear of my creative rut and ending that damn songwriter's block (the thing was edging into years in duration), but not, I repeat, not when I am no longer able to muster the strength to keep my eyelids in the "non-comatose" position. It's all [livejournal.com profile] s00j's fault. And [livejournal.com profile] rafaela's. And [livejournal.com profile] shadesong's. And, hell, let's throw in the rest of you, and you know who you are. Hmphh.

Two in the @%$#ing morning. Pfft. And I'd better not wake up in the middle of the night with more ideas, either, or I will be decidedly cranky.

I really should. Trouble with songwriting is that musical ideas don't usually come to me without the guitar in hand. One exception: I was cowriting a song with my then-partner, and there was something that was supposed to be happening in the guitar part that I couldn't get to work, until I had a dream about being in a gypsy caravan with a boy riding my shoulders and a guitar in hand, and I was actually able to remember what I was playing after I woke up, which worked perfectly.

It's almost getting to the point where I need to wring out my socks.
