Okay, let's try this again
Jan. 23rd, 2008 06:50 pmAbbey's surgery has been postponed 'til February. She's been battling a cold-flu-type thingy for a few days now, which had let up a bit as of last night but had kicked back in with a 100.7° fever this morning. Poor kid. And poor Kristi, who burned vacation time for this. We were two hours into the drive when we got the call, but we were close enough to meet them briefly in Milford, then tooled back up to Lake George to hang with Abbey and Nik for a bit and play the Game of Life. (Milton Bradley, not John Horton Conway. And have you seen the changes they've made to the game since we were kids? They've thrown more actual Life into the mix, with stuff like house flipping and bank loans and stock purchases, and made it downright strategic in the process. Verrrry interesting.)

Date: 2008-01-24 04:30 pm (UTC)You wind up with a lot of money and no housing debt. Then when you get to the end of the game, all of the other players are at Random Generic Retirement Home and you're at Millionnaire Tree-Lined Villa Estate Castle counting your huge pile of Life tiles and finding out that you wrote the Great American Novel AND invented a new ice-cream flavor AND cured the common cold.
