I need to preface this by saying that I am not participating in Rabbit Hole Day, because it's almost too random to be the nonfiction that it is:

rafaela and I finally came down with bad enough cabin fever that we forced ourselves out the door and down to Saratoga for a few hours. We had just bought a magazine at Border's, and were crossing Broadway over to the Uncommon Grounds coffeehouse and discussing various cute people we'd seen that day, making way for a smiling scruffy guy in glasses and beard who was chatting with his friend and crossing in the other direction. It wasn't until we'd made it safely to the curb that we glanced over our shoulders.

"Um, Anna?" I said, "Is it just me, or did we just pass Trey Anastasio?"

Indeed, we had.

Surreal. So surreal, in fact, that I never did quite get my head on straight for the remainder of our visit. I have to face the fact that, in my grip on reality, I am very, very easily thrown.

And how are you?

EDIT: I wasn't aware that he had just gotten out of prison. I knew he was required to stick around, but Whitehall's not that bloody close to Saratoga. Then again, given the choice, Saratoga's considerably the better option. (Thanks to mgrasso for the heads-up!)

Not prison.

He did two days at the Washington County jail (last weekend).

That's right behind where I work.

He's been living in the Saratoga area to do his court-mandated treatment.

I believe it's either Warren-Washington-Saratoga, or a specific radius, that he has to stay in. And, to address the point above, I think there's only one place in Washington County he COULD do court-mandated treatment, and it's popular among Comstock parollees, so Saratoga is probably a better option ...
