There's been a movie quotes quiz-meme floating around, which I've been having a great deal of fun with. I seriously considered doing a round of my own, but I decided that I liked last year's movie stills quiz-meme better. So pardon me whilst I blow the dust off of this thing....

The rules, in case you've forgotten:
1. Pick 20 films you love/thoroughly enjoyed.
2. Find screen captures (stills) for each film, preferably from scenes you like.
3. Post the pictures with the rules; let your readers guess from what movie each still is from. (Readers, no cheating. No google, no looking at Livejournal interests or looking at the file names.) Basically, do not cheat.

As always, though, I'm presenting you with 30 titles to identify: the 20 comprising the official list, and ten comprising the "prestige" (i.e. "Adam's going to be deeply impressed with you if you get any of these") list.

Good luck!

2. Dogma! Snootch to the motherfuckin' nootch! (I had that film on my mind this morning...)
3. Harvey
4. Little Big Man

26. La Jetee! (The exclamation point is NOT part of the title; I just love the film)
28. Is that "The Pillow Book"? And it has Ewan McGregor, right?

I was thinking 12 Monkeys for #7, as well, but didn't put down my guess. It's that woman on the far right...

*low whistle* Jesus, man, you're good. #20 is incorrect, but everything is dead on (including #25; you've got everything except the title). Extra kudos on La Jetée! Bravo! (Come to think of it, having that and 12 Monkeys on the same list is a tad redundant, innit?)

re: #7, interesting that we both guessed different pictures by the same director. That shot *is* a classic of Terry Gilliam's, and my other guess was going to be "Brazil". It's identifiable as Gilliam's almost as much as the "trunk shot" is identifiable as Quentin Tarantino's.

23. An Angel at My Table
25. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
27. I remember the main character of 'Comfort and Joy' was a disk jockey..
29. That looks like the Hiroshima (or is it Nagasaki?) memorial from Rhapsody in August.
30. The Spanish Prisoner

Oh. My. God. Five—count 'em, folks—five correct prestige calls. I am deeply, deeply in awe, sir. *bows before the awesomeness* (Also got #8!)

My wife is a huge movie buff and saw this post of yours, and wished to add the following:

I won't bother naming those I know that have already been named, but I'd like to add a couple. #5 is Requiem for a Dream #8 is The Royal Tenenbaums, #18 might be Joy Luck Club and isn't #21 Breaking the Waves? That's all I can figure out for now, but I have a couple more on the tip of my tongue. Oh well.

Wow, lots and lots of movies that I really, really like. In fact, many of them are among my favorites.

2. Dogma
3. Harvey
6. (The Monkees') Head -- I got some weird looks from the rental guy when he read that back to me years ago.
7. 12 Monkeys
8. The Royal Tenenbaums
9. American Beauty
10. Young Frankenstein? I've never actually sat and watched it, but it looks like that's what it would be.
12. Gyah...I totally know what the DVD case for this looks like, but can't for the life of me remember the movie's title.
14. Saved!
15. Ed Wood
16. Holy Smoke
20. The Illusionist

Sadly, I know none of the bonus stills this time around.
