[personal profile] slipjig3
This entry stems from a conversation [livejournal.com profile] rafaela had over dinner the other night. Almost everyone, at one point or another, has played the old game of "if they were to make a movie based on your life, who would they hire to play you?" It's a fun one, but I wanted to take a different tack, so I ask of you the following:

If they were to make a movie based on your life, who would be the director?

[livejournal.com profile] rafaela came up with either Spike Jonze or Michel Gondry for herself, which surprised me until she explained that they were among the few directors out there who are good at capturing the internal monologue and the "stuff of thought." I went with Paul Thomas Anderson, largely because Robert Altman is no longer with us. Both of them focus(ed) on the complex social tangle we all live in, no matter what subset of society we live in—perfect for capturing the Grodian knot I always find myself in. From there, we tried doing our friends, but it proved difficult, and it rapidly devolved into jokes. ("How about [livejournal.com profile] yendi?" "*thinks* "Uwe Boll?" "He is so going kill you.")

So. Who would direct the movie of your life? Why?

(Adam, it was a joke. I swear.)
